LAUNCESTON…
When you come to our special part of Tasmania…
You will discover it’s like a breath of fresh air…

Launceston is Australia’s third oldest city . . . A treasure trove of history and delights!!

Few places can match Launceston’s natural and historic charm. Officially founded in 1805, just one year after Tasmania's Capital, Hobart. Today the magnificent original Victorian streetscapes and architecture lend a historic ambiance to the city.

The style and character of its old buildings and parks; the preservation of countless old homes and gardens combined with breathtaking views of rolling hills, green valleys and lavender – blue mountains in the distance make Launceston a unique and pretty Australian city.

Nature has endowed Launceston with the natural beauty of three rivers. Centred on the confluence of the North and South Esk Rivers, Launceston stands at the source of the beautiful 64-kilometre Tamar River.

For lovers of wine, a tour around the vineyards of the Tamar Valley is the ultimate delight in tasting, dining and taking in the panoramic views across the valley. Guided tours can be arranged to the north’s stately historic country homes where the doors are open to reveal the regions early history and life in the grander days.
