Located on the banks of the Tamar River in Legana Tasmania, which is the doorway to the famous Tamar Valley. One of the first vineyards planted in the area in 1984, the original vineyard was 2.7 hectares and was planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard was originally intended to complement a restaurant, which was located on the property. Vintages of all of these varieties were produced from 1989 to 1994 and showed the typical characteristics of the Tamar Valley. Excellent variety bouquets, typical of a box of berries, good medium weight and burgundy colour.
Today the Point Noir plot of 1,000 vines is all that is left of the original vineyard and we have continued to produce this variety with great success with consulting and wine making assistance from Dr. Richard Richardson, of Delamere Vineyard in Pipers River.
